Navy vet Pottenger joins Serco's U.S. board

Retired Navy Vice Adm. Carol Pottenger joins the board of directors at Serco Group's Americas region arm.
Retired Navy Vice Adm. Carol Pottenger has joined the board of directors at Serco Inc. -- the Americas region subsidiary of Britain's Serco Group.
A 36-year Navy veteran, Pottenger became the first female admiral to command an expeditionary strike group in 2006 when she became leader of Amphibious Force 7th Fleet/Expeditionary Strike Group Seven.
Two years later, Pottenger took charge of Expeditionary Combat Command, where she led a logistics force of 30 ships and the Navy's $3 billion Expeditionary Forces of 40,000 sailors.
Serco Inc. said Thursday her Navy career includes leadership roles such as division officer, department head, executive officer and commanding officer on repair and combat support ships.
Pottenger’s last assignment was with NATO as senior U.S. flag officer responsible for military transformation, as well as other issues such as counterterrorism and cyber.
She retired from the Navy in 2013 and one year later established her own consulting firm CMP Global that offers services in business development, process improvement, corporate governance, strategic planning, and cyber and information systems.
