Vendors working on responses to a statement of work for Trusted Internet Connections services now have until Sept. 10 to complete them, an extension from the original Aug. 18 deadline.

The General Services Administration added services associated with the TIC initiative to its Networx contracts and sent the statements of work to contract holders on July 17.

The TIC is an effort to the reduce the number of Internet gateways that connect agencies to the global network from several thousand to less than 100, according to Karen Evans, administrator for e-Government and information technology at the Office of Management and Budget. The smaller number of gateways will make it much easier to monitor traffic across the network, OMB has said.
