Health IT services company Document Storage Systems has completed an acquisition they hope will spread their wings further out beyond that core market, but also expand upon it and into other key technology areas.

DSS said Tuesday it purchased SBG Technology Solutions, which provides IT modernization and other related services to federal agencies including the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SBG is also seen by the acquirer as adding new offerings for national security customers. DSS’ historical core has been at the VA, which SBG also has a presence at.

Alexandria, Virginia-headquartered SBG concentrates its services on IT modernization, professional engineering, IT governance, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

For AI specifically, the company has developed a learning platform to offer customized training for customers on using the AI tools in their work.
