Tyler Technologies closes NIC acquisition
Tyler Technologies completes the company's largest-ever acquisition that sees NIC enter its fold.
Tyler Technologies said Wednesday it has completed its largest-ever acquisition in its 55-year history that sees government software and IT solutions provider NIC come into the fold.
First announced in February, the deal valued at $3.4 billion including debt has significant federal component and seeks to position Tyler for work with agencies pushing to adopt cloud infrastructures and more subscription-based digital services.
NIC specializes in government payment systems and touts having processed more than $24 billion of them for citizens and agencies last year.
In tandem with the deal’s closure, NIC CEO Harry Herington is retiring from the organization after 13 years as its leader and nearly three decades there overall.
