Maximus appoints new federal leader

Maximus hires a nearly two-decade IT industry veteran to head its federal segment and succeed the retiring Tom Romeo.
Maximus has hired nearly two-decade IT industry veteran and former IBM executive Teresa “Terry” Weipert as general manager of the U.S. federal services segment.
Weipert succeeds Tom Romeo, who is retiring from Maximus after leading its federal work for nearly 10 years.
Romeo will stay with the company through July to support the transition and subsequently be a member of the federal segment’s advisory board, Maximus said Thursday.
The federal services segment has nearly trebled in size over three years to nearly $1.6 billion in revenue for Maximus’ most recent fiscal year ended Sept. 30, according to regulatory filings.
A substantial portion of that growth came through acquisitions, including the purchase of the General Dynamics contact center business in 2018 and most recently the deal for Attain’s federal business in March.
When Romeo joined Maximus in 2011, the federal services segment was at around $80 million in revenue.
Weipert was most recently vice president and service delivery leader for IBM’s health care, life sciences and SLED (state and local government, and education) public markets. Her career has also included stops at Accenture, Sutherland Global Services and Unisys.
