BWXT Technologies has hired nearly 12-year Lockheed Martin veteran Rob Smith as president of government operations.

Smith will lead all of BWXT’s U.S.-based work for federal customers that include the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, Energy Department, National Nuclear Security Administration, NASA and other agencies.

He will report directly to CEO Rex Geveden, BWXT said Monday.

Most recently, Smith was vice president and general manager for Lockheed’s radar and sensors systems business with responsibility over programs across 45 countries. Smith joined Lockheed in 2008 upon its acquisition of Nantero, where he was vice president of its government business unit.
