The Veterans Affairs Department awards the last piece of its multibillion dollar effort to stand up a new care service provider network in the U.S. and its territories.

The Veterans Affairs Department has made the sixth and final award through an eight-year, multibillion dollar effort to stand up a new care service provider network in the U.S. and its territories.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance Corp. will proceed on the Community Care Network’s Pacific Islands portion, also known as Region 6, under a contract modification the VA announced in a Beta.Sam.Gov posting Wednesday.

The VA intends to issue that modification on a sole-source basis to Triwest through the CCN Region 4 contract that company already holds to work in the 12 Mountain and Pacific time zone states along with Hawaii. Triwest also is the company working in Alaska, or Region 5.

Like other CCN regions, work in Region 6 will take place under an initial base year and up to seven option years. No dollar figure was disclosed in the Region 6 posting.

Barring an unlikely protest, this modification wraps up all awards for the CCN program that is the VA’s mechanism for connecting veterans to health care and other related benefits if they are unable to access those at local VA medical centers.

UnitedHealth Group’s Optum business holds the contracts for services in 36 states across the three CCN regions covering the Eastern and Central time zones.
