Deloitte promotes from within to lead government risk management work

Deloitte has promoted a nearly 10-year firm veteran to a key leadership role involving work with government and other public sector clients on cybersecurity and risk management.

Matt Gentile, who currently leads Deloitte’s government innovation and platforms practice, has been named head of the government and public services practice within the global consulting firm’s risk and financial advisory arm.

Gentile will also lead Deloitte’s financial modernization and digital transformation work with government agencies at all levels, the firm said Wednesday.

“As our clients tackle the hard challenges in establishing and restoring trust, securing mission critical systems and building crisis response and resilience into operations, we will help set the pace on human-centered, (artificial intelligence)-assisted solutions as governmental entities enhance how they serve citizens everywhere,” Gentile said in a release.

Most recently, Gentile also led much of Deloitte’s work with the Homeland Security Department in addition to his innovation-focused role.

He was also part of the Deloitte team that working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab to develop and launch datausa.io, a website and analytics visualization engine for public U.S. government data.

Gentile joined Deloitte upon its acquisition in 2010 of geospatial analytics company Traverse Technologies, which he co-founded and led as CEO.
