Special Operations Command delays industry day for $600M analytics contract
Overwhelmed by the response to its industry day invitation, the Special Operations Command has pushed back the industry day for its $600 million global analytics platform contract.
NOTE: This blog has been updated to clarify the command's acquisition strategy.
The Special Operations Command’s $600 million global analytics contract has proved to be so popular that the command has rescheduled its industry day.
Originally scheduled for Aug. 27, the virtual event has now been pushed to Oct. 5-Oct. 9. Unfortunately, the delay doesn’t mean that registration for the event it still open. The updated Beta.Sam.Gov posting is adamant that registration is closed.
As we’ve reported, SOCOM is looking to field a global analytics platform that will combine several capabilities into a single architecture. The command has a large amount of data that it wants to analyze through a variety of secure-web only applications.
The virtual industry day stretches over several days because SOCOM has offered one-on-one sessions after the first day’s open session. But the window has also closed on signing up for the one-on-ones.
The acquisition strategy revealed so far calls for the command to award the contract in two lots, one for development and one for operations and sustainment. UPDATE: SOCOM is considering both a single award that will cover both lots, or "Lines of Effort" as the command calls them, and separate awards for each line of effort.
A final solicitation is expected in 2021.
