AST appoints new president

Allegheny Science & Technology appoints a nearly three-decade industry veteran to be its next president and shape the growth strategy.
Allegheny Science & Technology has hired 35-year engineering and management consulting veteran Scott Heefner as its next president.
He officially started the role Wednesday (today) and will also focus on driving and shaping AST's growth strategy in the energy and environmental markets.
Tysons Corner, Virginia-based AST’s services include applied science and technology, mission assurance and support, and data and decision analytics with an emphasis on energy solutions. The company's primary federal customer is the Energy Department.
“As industry evolves to meet the future of sustainable fossil and clean energy, I believe that AST is positioned to provide cost-effective technical solutions to help our customers meet their future energy and environmental challenges today,” Heefner said in a release.
Heefner’s career prior to AST includes leadership roles at Thoreau Solutions, Redhorse Corp., Information International Associates, TASC and Project Time & Cost.
