Carahsoft adds Splunk to $820M BPA

The Navy has added Splunk as a software vendor on a broader blanket purchase agreement held by Carahsoft  worth up to $820.4 million that was awarded last year.

Carahsoft will provide Splunk products and services to agencies in the Defense Department and intelligence community, as well as the Coast Guard through that BPA that has seven other companies on it. Each company on the BPA represents different software vendors.

According to DOD’s Monday awards digest, Splunk’s addition to the pact falls under the department’s Enterprise Software Initiative to consolidate IT product and services buys. This particular BPA involves commercial IT asset management software and professional services.

A unusual sidebar of this story has to do with Splunk’s investors that may have noticed the company’s mention in DOD’s announcement. The stock opened almost 2-percent higher on speculation about this apparent win for Splunk but has leveled off since.
