AECOM adds $192M Army contract as government biz sale nears

AECOM's government services arm secures a $192 million Army network logistics contract as that business prepares to be acquired.
AECOM’s management services business is getting ready to become a standalone company after its sale to a pair of private equity firms closes sometime in the first quarter of this calendar year.
But the pursuit of contracts goes on and AECOM announced Wednesday a key award to add into the backlog as the separation of the government-focused division gets closer.
AECOM Management Services has secured a potential five-year, $192 million task order for logistics services to support the Army’s rollout of a unified tactical network for the branch’s Communications-Electronics Command in Aberdeen, Maryland.
“We are proud to expand our support of critical command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and Reconnaissance systems for our nation’s defense,” said John Vollmer, president of the AECOM MS business. “The upcoming separation of Management Services into a privately held, government-focused business will greatly benefit from this and our other contracts, both in the D.C. Metro area and around the world.”
The MS unit won the work through the General Services Administration’s Professional Services Schedule over two other bidders, according to Federal Procurement Spending Data information.
American Securities and Lindsay Goldberg are acquiring the AECOM Management Services business for $2.4 billion.
