ECS reports $116M health IT migration award

ECS, the government IT segment of ASGN Inc., has booked an estimated $116 million contract to help the Navy’s Naval Information Warfare Center migrate its legacy IT infrastructure supporting military health care into a consolidated system.

Work under the four-year contract covers both IT modernization and cybersecurity solutions for the NWIC organization’s shift into the future Medical Community of Interest system known as MedCOI, ECS said Thursday.

The effort is in conjunction with the DOD Defense Health Agency’s large-scale migration of the Military Health System to the new electronic health record system known as Genesis.

In its release, ECS also cited DHA’s so-called “Desktop to Datacenter” program as an aspect of that migration. The D2D program is DHA’s initiative to streamline and standardize health IT service lines across MHS as the Genesis EHR gets deployed.

MHS currently has a mixed IT environment that arose from integrations of service networks developed for different requirements across DOD. Once fully rolled out, MHS Genesis is intended as the more standardized record system for at least 9.4 million active duty soldiers, military retirees and their families.
