MEI takes $340M Air Force space tech R&D contract

Millennium Engineering and Integration Co. wins a $340 million contract to help the Air Force research and develop new space technologies and related concepts.
Small, employee-owned business Millennium Engineering and Integration Co. has won a seven-year, $340 million contract to help research and develop new space technologies and related concepts for the Air Force.
MEI beat out four other offers for the “Research and development Integrated Space Experiments“ contract, the Defense Department said in its Friday awards digest. The contract was previously held by ATA Aerospace LLC and expired in August 2017, according to Deltek data.
The Air Force Research Laboratory has also tasked MEI in areas such as analysis, integration, experimentation, demonstration and evaluation to support the lab’s space vehicles directorate.
Components and subsystems MEI will focus on for the "RISE" contracct include structures, sensors, electronics, control systems, data processing, ground support equipment, software and firmware.
Work will take place through April 30, 2026 at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.
