Curtiss-Wright buys data link software outfit

Curtiss-Wright Corp. said Monday it has acquired software provider Tactical Communications Group for $50 million to add more capabilities to its offerings around tactical data links.

TCG ‘s customers include large defense companies and systems integrators, plus the Air Force and Navy. The company builds its software to help validate data links and utilize tools such as analytics, simulation, scripting and visualization to help in training and situational awareness.

The products are used in all types of platforms and by dismounted soldiers to exchange wireless communications and data.

“This acquisition yields significant opportunities for growth by enhancing our existing flight test instrumentation offering with complementary tactical data link processing software, analytics and visualization capabilities, and also providing penetration into the tactical data link test, simulation and training markets,” Curtiss-Wright CEO David Adams said in a release.

Founded in 2001, TCG recorded $15 million in revenue last year and has 50 employees. TCG is headquartered in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.
