Navy chooses three for marine platform design support

The Navy awards three companies a contract to help design and engineer marine platforms.
The Navy has awarded three companies positions on a potential five-year, $40 million contract for design and engineering services in support of marine vessels and equipment.
Five bids were submitted for the contract that covers services for all current and former Navy vessels, ships, craft and boats, the Defense Department said in its Friday awards digest.
Huntington Ingalls Industries' fleet support group, Gryphon and Tridentis will bid for task orders to perform work that includes the creation of technical documents, design models and computer-aided drafts.
Within its services business, HII has created an “integrated digital shipyard" that has employees incorporate three-dimensional modeling and augmented reality technologies into the ship construction process. Computer-aided drafts are a part of that approach as well.
The contract's scope of work includes broad naval architecture, structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial and environmental engineering services.
Work will take place through February 2024.
