Navy awards $12.6B maintenance, logistics contract

The Navy awards a $12.6 billion contract for maintenance, logistics and other support work on manned and unmanned aircraft.
The Navy has awarded 19 companies positions on a seven-year contract with a $12.6 billion ceiling value for maintenance and logistics services on manned and unmanned aircraft along with other weapon systems.
Awardees will vie for task orders over the Contracted Maintenance, Modification, Aircrew and Related Services program's duration. A total of 21 offers were submitted for the "CMMARS" contract, the Defense Department said in its Tuesday awards digest.

DynCorp is the incumbent through a trio of current contracts, one of which expires in 2019 and the other two end in March and August of 2022, according to Deltek data. The Navy is taking a different approach with the new contract in having multiple winners and competing the work through task order.
Logistics services will support fixed-wing, rotary-wing, unmanned aircraft vehicles, and lighter than air vehicles, as well as integrally related systems and weapon systems used by the Navy and Air Force. CMMARS is intended for use in all phases of the acquisition lifecycle.
