TechFlow takes $968M TSA explosive detection system contract

TechFlow has won a potential five-year, $968 million contract to help the Transportation Security Administration maintain explosive detection systems at airports around the country.

TSA has tasked the company to conduct preventive maintenance, radiation surveys, calibrations, tests and other logistics-related functions. Contract work is slated to begin on Dec. 1 and continue through Nov. 30, 2023, the agency said in a FedBizOpps notice Thursday.

The agency received one other bid for the Explosive Detection System Performance Based Logistics contract, according to Federal Procurement Data System information.

According to Deltek data, this contract is a follow-on to TSA’s current portfolio of four contracts for integrated logistics support services at airports. Leidos has the primary maintenance service provider contract with L3 Technologies, Morpho Detection and Leidos as original equipment manufacturers.

All three OEM contracts are slated to expire at various points next year. Leidos’ contract for the services portion was originally lost to Peraton earlier this year after rounds of protests, then TSA terminated the recompeted contract in May and subsequently extended the work for Leidos.

TSA is preparing a new request for proposals on the “Integrated Logistics Support” contract with a solicitation anticipated for release in February, Deltek data indicates.
