Booz Allen Hamilton hires former DHS executive Dr. Cedric Sims as a senior vice president.

Booz Allen Hamilton has hired former Homeland Security Department and Secret Service executive Dr. Cedric Sims as a senior vice president for civilian services.

Sims will develop strategies for Booz Allen’s homeland security business to pursue complex work in areas such as IT modernization and infrastructure resiliency, the government services company said Thursday.

Booz Allen is seeking to build on its work in support of DHS’ Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation effort to implement new cybersecurity tools across 80 percent of civilian “.gov” networks. The firm has secured two of six major task orders as part of the program’s current phase called CDM DEFEND.

Sims’ career at DHS includes leadership of the establishment of the agency’s Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management, which sought to promote increased oversight over $18 billion in acquisitions.

He also implemented the Secret Service’s first ever five-year strategic plan in his stint there.

More recently, Sims has led management consulting company Evermay Consulting Group as president and CEO.
