General Dynamics keeps $2B State Department supply chain contract

General Dynamics has won a new 10-year, $2.07 billion contract to continue its global security engineering and supply chain services for the State Department.

The State Department announced the new award in a FedBizOpps notice Wednesday. General Dynamics' IT services segment first won the work in 2012 under a predecessor contract that had a $2.28 billion ceiling value with $1.13 billion spent, according to Deltek data.

Work supports the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, which acts as the State Department's law enforcement arm and is responsible for protecting both visiting foreign dignitaries and U.S. diplomatic missions overseas. The bureau also works to secure information systems, investigate passport and visa fraud, and supports the global war on terrorism.

General Dynamics will help manage a catalog of more than 5,000 unique products and distribute them to at least 147 domestic and 285 overseas State Department facilities. The department seeks real-time visibility, ability to track and gain accurate lead times and provide similar services for any other items ordered anywhere in the world.

General Dynamics' services include facility maintenance and security, program management, quality control, performance monitoring, governance, business rules, change management, strategic planning and project management.
