Navy awards $949M secure wireless contract

The Navy picks five firms for a $949.9 million secure wireless communication systems supply contract.
The Navy has awarded five companies positions on a potential seven-year, $949.9 million contract to deliver systems for soldiers to use in secure wireless communications.
This is a brand new requirement the Navy awarded as a small business set-aside with 13 bids received, the Defense Department said in its Thursday awards digest. Work will take place over a five-year base period and potentially another two-year option term.
Winners are Cambridge International Systems, Grove Resource Solutions, PeopleTec, Systems Technology Forum and UEC Electronics.
“Cyber Mission Systems, Kitting and Supplies” contract awardees will compete for orders to provide systems that also support efforts to detect, collect and exploit electrical and electronic equipment. Other services will include sustainment, maintenance and disposal of the equipment.
A similar Navy contract called “Cyber Mission Engineering” is currently in source selection mode. That full-and-open contract has an $898 million ceiling over up to seven years with awards anticipated sometime between October and December, according to solicitation documents.
