NASA taps JV for $608M Kennedy Space Center services contract

A joint venture of PAE and a company acquired by KBR has won a potential five-year, $608.7 million contract to help operate and maintain equipment facilities at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The contract awarded to PAE-SGT Partners LLC also covers similar institutional support work at Kennedy’s neighboring Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. NASA said Tuesday the contract begins on Oct. 1 with a two-year base period followed by three two-year options.

PAE’s partner in the venture is Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, the science and engineering services contractor that KBR acquired in April to further expand its footprint across NASA and other space programs. SGT added its $1.2 billion NASA Mission Systems Operations contract to KBR’s business mix.

Services at Kennedy and the Cape Canaveral station will also include spaceport integration, mission support, launch readiness management, design engineering, project management, construction and institutional logistics.

AECOM is the incumbent on the current 10-year contract that expires on Sept. 30.
