Leidos books $639M in Social Security IT orders

Leidos books $639 million in task orders for IT services to support the Social Security Administration’s technology modernization efforts.
Leidos has booked a pair of task orders worth up to $639 million combined for IT services to the Social Security Administration in support of the agency’s technology modernization efforts.
Both orders have an initial base period through September of this year and four one-year options that could extend work to 2022. The orders cover work to support SSA’s software engineering office and Disability Case Processing System, Leidos said Tuesday.
SSA awarded the orders as part of its $7.8 billion IT Support Services Contract vehicle that opened for business earlier this year with Leidos, CGI Federal and Northrop Grumman as awardees.
The software engineering office order focuses on the development of software and services used by the business community, while SSA is aiming to streamline and simplify the process for applying for disability claims.
Leidos’ work under both orders will include software updates, support staff and web design activities. The company will also work with SSA to continue an agile-based development program for SSA’s DCPS.
