Maxar names former Fluor CFO Porter as finance chief
Space company Maxar Technologies hires former Fluor Chief Financial Officer Biggs Porter as the new CFO.
Space company Maxar Technologies said Thursday it has hired former Fluor Chief Financial Officer Biggs Porter as CFO in a move to take effect Aug. 15.
Porter joins Maxar amid the company's first year in its new identity from the former name of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, which was Canada's best-known space company at the time.
MDA acquired DigitalGlobe in October and subsequently rebranded to Maxar, which is positioning itself as a end-to-end space and satellite technology company with a large services component. Maxar derives roughly a quarter of its annual revenue from contracts with U.S. government agencies, according to regulatory filings on the DigitalGlobe deal.
Maxar also shifted its corporate headquarters during the spring to DigitalGlobe's hub in Westminster, Colorado. The company also maintains a significant footprint in the Washington, D.C. area with a consolidated site in Herndon, Virginia that houses staffers from all four of Maxar's divisions.
Porter held the CFO role from 2012 to 2017 and before that was finance chief at Tenet Healthcare from 2006 to 2012. He also held financial leadership roles at Raytheon and Northrop Grumman.
