American Systems hires Steckel as BD lead

American Systems has hired 16-year federal market veteran and former Vencore executive John Steckel as vice president of business development.

Steckel will lead the company's effort to identify new customers, conduct capture strategies and develop proposals for awards, American Systems said Monday.

At Vencore (now part of Perspecta), Steckel served as a senior vice president and was responsible for that company's business development, capture and proposal development teams.

He also held business development roles at Raytheon and BAE Systems Inc. Prior to his federal market career, he held marketing and operational roles at commercial companies such as FedEx and PepsiCo.
