GD-CSRA keeps NOAA $553M high-performance computing contract

The now-former CSRA has retained one of the largest programs in its portfolio to continue systems integration and operation support for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s high-performance computers.

NOAA awarded a potential $553 million contract to CSRA on Thursday, a FedBizOpps notice says. The contract has a nine-year base period followed by one option year and then a one-year transition option.

NOAA uses the supercomputers to develop new weather and climate forecasts.

CSRA has performed the work since the current contract was awarded in May 2010 to the former Computer Sciences Corp., which spun off its federal business in 2015 to help form what became CSRA.

General Dynamics inherits the new contract through its acquisition of CSRA in April.

Five companies bid for the new “High Performance Computing & Communications, Research and Development” contract, according to information from the Federal Procurement Data System.
