Raytheon forms cyber partnership with Virsec

Raytheon has formed an alliance with Silicon Valley-based commercial cybersecurity company Virsec to bring new network defense products to global government and critical infrastructure entities.

This partnership centers around Virsec’s Trusted Execution technology that works to detect deviations in software applications that are caused by network intrusions, the companies said Monday.

Virsec designed its product to protect memory and processes in real-time as it defends against attacks on IT systems via advanced hacking techniques and memory exploits.

A heritage weapons maker, Raytheon has made a series of investments in cybersecurity, analytics, artificial intelligence and automation in recent years to bring IT products from commercial markets into the defense sector

The company formed a partnership with agile software services company Pivotal late last year to help defense agencies migrate legacy applications into cloud computing environments.

Also in Raytheon’s portfolio is the Forcepoint commercial cyber venture that focuses on firewall, insider threats and malware. Raytheon owns 80 percent of Forcepoint.
