L3 adds Melanie Heitkamp as HR lead

L3 Technologies said Thursday it has hired former Leidos human resources executive Melanie Heitkamp as senior vice president and chief HR officer in a move to take effect May 21.

Heitkamp will succeed the retiring Kevin Weiss and report directly to CEO Chris Kubasik when she joins the New York City-based defense contractor.

She more recently was senior VP of HR for Leidos’ defense and intelligence group, where she oversaw HR integration efforts related to the company’s merger with the former Lockheed Martin IT business nearly three years ago. Heitkamp was a vice president of HR within the IT business prior to the transaction.
