Raytheon, Department 13 form anti-drone tech partnership

Raytheon has teamed up with counter-drone technology maker Department 13 to jointly market, support and develop new platforms for defense organizations worldwide.

The companies said Monday they will initially focus on new opportunities for D13’s Mesmer platform designed as low-power, non-jamming, non-line-of-sight and non-kinetic.

D13 built Mesmer to defend personnel and infrastructure from adversarial drones through automatic detection of them to stop, redirect or take control of them.

Columbia, Md.-based D13 takes its name from a Cold War-era shadow government department that worked on sensitive technology projects.
