Accenture books $62M VA Salesforce IT contract

Accenture’s federal subsidiary has won a potential five-year, $62 million contract to configure and update Salesforce-based applications used by the Veterans Affairs Department.

The VA’s Veterans Benefits Administration seeks to enhance its IT infrastructure that supports delivery of benefits to veterans. Accenture Federal Services said Thursday the contract covers a one-year base period with four one-year options.

This contract award comes nearly five months after Accenture closed the acquisition of cloud services company Phase One, which specializes in Salesforce-related work on IT modernization and digital transformation projects for federal agencies.

VBA’s lines of business supported under the contract include compensation, pension and fiduciary, vocational rehabilitation and employment, insurance, loan guaranty, and education. Projects lined up for updates are the VBA’s workload and time reporting system, quality management system, medical exam quality review system and education liaison compliance tool.

The agency sought Accenture’s support in functions such as user-centered design, project management, requirements identification, configuration, content creation, testing and training support.
