Xator adds Merlin's services arm

Technology services company Xator acquires the professional services group of cyber and health IT contractor Merlin International.
Technology services company Xator has acquired the professional services group of cybersecurity and health IT contractor Merlin International to add new footprints in the federal and critical infrastructure markets.
Terms of the transaction were undisclosed. Xator said Monday the deal extends itself further into areas such as cyber, infrastructure, network operations, enterprise applications and health IT critical infrastructure.
Investment bank The McLean Group advised Merlin on the transaction.
For Merlin’s part, the sale is “part of a strategic initiative to focus exclusively on cyber solutions and technology development,” it said in a separate Monday release.
Merlin -- headquartered in Metro Denver with offices in Vienna, Va. -- strung together $80 million in cyber awards with the Veterans Affairs Department during the third quarter of this calendar year.
Reston, Va.-based Xator was founded in 2005 and has closed several deals in the past three years to grow its presence in the national security arena.
Prior to the Merlin transaction, Xator’s most recent acquisition was of Paragon Communications Solutions to gain more offerings in electronic and communications security.
