Accenture's federal arm names Goodman next CEO

Accenture's federal business promotes COO John Goodman to the chief executive role in a move that will see current CEO David Moskovitz transition to a new corporate position.
Accenture’s U.S. federal subsidiary has promoted current chief operating officer John Goodman to the CEO post, where he will succeed David Moskovitz in a move slated to take effect Nov. 20.
Moskovitz will stay with Accenture Federal Services through Aug. 31 of next year to help with the transition and lead innovation-focused initiatives. He will then take up a senior managing director with Accenture at the corporate level, the company said Tuesday.
Goodman is a two-decade veteran of Accenture and has been COO of its Arlington, Va.-based federal arm for almost five years. Formerly head of the defense and intelligence business, Goodman led AFS on an interim basis in late 2012 and became its COO shortly after Moskovitz was appointed CEO.
Moskovitz is a recipient of both the 2017 FCW Eagle Award and 2015 GCN Industry Executive of the Year. Accenture Federal Services has acquired six companies over that time in areas such as health IT, cybersecurity and digital services.
That strategy led Washington Technology to select Accenture in October for the first annual Washington Technology Industry Innovator awards this year for “Best Use of Acquisitions.”
During his CEO tenure, AFS moved up the annual Washington Technology Top 100 federal contractor rankings from the fiscal year 2013 listing at 25th to the more recent listing for 2017 at 13th.
Prior to Accenture, Goodman served as deputy defense undersecretary for industrial affairs and installations.
