Tetra Tech has won a five-year, $356 million contract to help the Federal Aviation Administration research and develop future navigation systems.
The Navigation Technical Assistance Contract II program aims to support modernization initiatives such as the NextGen air traffic management effort and a transition to performance-based navigation, Tetra Tech said Thursday.
This contract is part of the FAA’s larger effort to transition to an integrated ground- and space-based navigation systems architecture as it expects the U.S. commercial aviation sector to carry 1 billion passengers per year by 2021.
NAVTAC II also covers implementation, maintenance and decommissioning work on the FAA’s navigation, landing and lighting systems.
