Find opportunities — and win them.

Accenture Federal Services hires Susan Lawrence, a former Army CIO who was a Booz Allen Hamilton executive for the past three years.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Susan Lawrence, a former chief information officer for the branch, has taken up a new position at Accenture Federal Services after almost three-and-a-half years at Booz Allen Hamilton.

Lawrence will work as a managing director in AFS’ national security practice and focus on the development and execution of technology transformation and mission support strategies, the Accenture subsidiary said Tuesday. Those strategies are intended to help deter, deflect and defeat threats.

At Booz Allen, she was senior vice president in the contractor’s defense market group and helped lead business initiatives in defense and security markets.

As Army CIO, Lawrence managed defense enterprise systems, IT infrastructure, command-and-control platforms and other new technologies used both by soldiers and defense civilian workers.

She also helped develop Army Cyber Command during her CIO term between 2011 and 2013 and backed the branch’s efforts in data center consolidation, network modernization and the move to enterprise email.
