The Navy has awarded eight companies spots on a potential five-year, $486.9 million contract for prototype air vehicle modification and other related services focused on technology upgrades for aircraft.
This contract was awarded in two lots with one a full-and-open unrestricted competition and the second for small businesses. Three awards went to companies in the unrestricted lot with seven bids received and five were for small businesses out of 10 proposals, the Defense Department said in its Wednesday contracts digest.
Full-and-open winners were BAE Systems' U.S. subsidiary, Sierra Nevada Corp. and Strata-G Solutions. Small business awardees were Coherent Technical Services, Dayton T. Brown, J.F. Taylor, KIHOMAC, and Science and Engineering Services.
Incumbent American Electronic Warfare Associates Inc. was not selected for this contract, according to Deltek. Coherent Technical Services, Dayton Brown, J.F. Taylor and Strata-G Solutions will continue their incumbent work.
Awardees will bid for orders to work on mission systems, aircraft stores, support equipment designs, build-to-print technical data packages, kits and installed systems. The services aim to help further test and evaluate new systems for introduction into aircraft fleets.
The Navy sought help through all phases of prototype projects that include feasibility studies, concept development, systems integration, laboratory standup and tests before production starts.
