TransUnion adds former Army acquisition lead McFarland to government advisory board

Chicago-based credit report provider TransUnion has appointed former Army acquisition leader Katrina McFarland to the company's government board of advisers.

This appointment comes nearly one month after McFarland joined the board of directors at Engility. She retired from government in January after a three-decade career that included nine months as assistant army secretary acquisition, logistics and technology.

McFarland is also a former assistant defense secretary for acquisition. She led the Army's effort to stand up its Rapid Capabilities Office and supported the Air Force's work to start a similar organization.

TransUnion's government advisory board is chaired by Jonathan McDonald, executive vice president of TransUnion's public sector business.

The company offers credit, criminal and public data and analytics tools to federal agencies for efforts to detect and prevent fraud.

Other government advisory board members include:

• Roger Baker, former Veterans Affairs chief information officer
• W. Ralph Basham, former Customs and Border Protection commissioner
• Henry Chao, former Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services chief technology officer
• James Myers, sector vice president for global operations at Northrop Grumman
