The Small Business Administration has sworn in former Defense Department civilian Althea "Allie" Coetzee Leslie as new deputy administrator.

SBA announced the ceremony in a release Monday and said the event took place at its Washington headquarters. Coetzee Leslie was nominated for the role in March and subsequently received Senate confirmation earlier this month.

World Wrestling Entertainment co-founder Linda McMahon was sworn in as SBA administrator in February.

Coetzee Leslie is a former chief of staff to the defense undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics and held that role until her SBA confirmation. In that role, she helped facilitate AT&L's functions across offices of five assistant secretaries, 11 directorates and several defense agencies.

She is a former Navy Reserve officer and has also worked as a small business owner.
