ManTech takes $450M NASA Jet Propulsion Lab IT contract

ManTech International has won a potential 10-year, $450 million contract to manage the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's IT environment that includes computing and communications infrastructure.

The Institutional Computing Environment contract's base value is $180 million over four years with six one-year options that would extend the value to its full ceiling. ICE covers managed services for the lab's hardware and software, communications and network-connected devices.

Lockheed Martin first won the work in 2008 under a predecessor contract valued at up to $360 million, according to Deltek. That contract transitioned to Leidos in 2016 through the merger that closed in August of that year.

JPL has tasked ManTech with services in cybersecurity, analytics and systems engineering for platforms and devices used by lab personnel. ManTech will work to secure communications across devices and different subscriber services.

Based in Southern California, JPL oversees the construction of robotic spacecraft for NASA and also houses research-and-development work for other space systems.
