WidePoint promotes Kang to CEO, gives Holloway added responsibilities

Mobile cyber and telecom service provider WidePoint elevates former COO Jin Kang to chief executive and expands the role of its Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Jason Holloway.
Mobile cybersecurity and telecommunications services provider WidePoint has promoted former executive vice president and chief operating officer Jin Kang to president and CEO for the company in a move that took effect July 1.
Kang joined McLean, Va.-based WidePoint in 2008 upon its acquisition of iSYS, the IT contractor he founded in 2007. The three-decade IT veteran will also join the WidePoint board of directors and succeeds former President and CEO Jeff Nyweide, whom the company said resigned for personal family reasons.
Widepoint's federal customers include the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, Agriculture; and General Services Administration. The company offers identity management, cloud computing and other enterprise IT services to government and commercial agencies seeking to comply with regulations and other system requirements.
The company recorded $78.4 million in revenue last year and a loss of $2 million for earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization.
In addition, WidePoint gave its current Executive Vice President Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Jason Holloway an added role as CEO and president of the cybersecurity solutions subsidiary. His career prior to WidePoint includes CEO and co-founder of health and financial services IT company Nexcentri, as well as president and CEO of Linux managed security services provider Networked Knowledge Systems.
