Johns Hopkins APL to extend Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center partnership

Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory will continue its engineering and research-and-development work for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center under a new seven-year, $92 million contract.
Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory has received a new seven-year, $92 million contract to continue its systems engineering and research-and-development services for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.
APL's support for the center encompasses areas such as concept development, capability planning, analysis and nuclear vulnerability assessments. The center also concentrates on nuclear weapon system capability and nuclear command, control and communications.
The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center has 1,900 personnel at 17 locations worldwide that are responsible for the safety, security and reliability of nuclear weapon systems.
Work under the sole-source contract will occur through June 16, 2024 in Laurel Md.
