Cloud computing and security company HyTrust has hired public sector cyber veteran Wayne Lewandowski to lead its government business as senior vice president and general manager.

Lewandowski joins HyTrust from Thales e-Security, where he more recently was vice president of U.S. government sales and oversaw its cybersecurity platform technology portfolio for federal agencies.

Mountain View, Calif.-based HyTrust said Tuesday Lewandowski will be the "tip of the spear" for its work with federal agencies and across the larger defense sector. The company includes CIA venture capital arm In-Q-Tel as among its investors.

HyTrust appointed Lewandowski to lead its public sector market strategy focused on cloud computing and virtualization technologies for use by national security agencies.

In addition, HyTrust also added three new members to its federal advisory board that works with Lewandowski on the company's government market strategy.

Those new appointments include:

  • Reginald Hyde, former deputy defense undersecretary for intelligence and security
  • Rhett Hernandez, a retired Army lieutenant general and former first commander for Army Cyber Command
  • Mark Kirk, former senator from Illinois and retired Naval Reserves intelligence officer
