Huntington Ingalls brings aboard IT vet Davis as CISO

Huntington Ingalls Industries has hired nearly two-decade government IT industry veteran Ron Davis as chief information security officer nearly six months after the military shipbuilder launched its services segment.

Davis joins the company from Vencore, where he worked as CISO for two years. He will report to Huntington Ingalls Chief Financial Officer Chris Kastner and work out of HII's office in Washington.

This appointment comes nearly six months after Newport News, Va.-based Huntington Ingalls established its estimated $1 billion government services segment upon the December acquisition of Camber Corp. HII integrated Camber with six other businesses to form the "Technical Solutions" segment that includes IT services in areas such as cybersecurity and information assurance.

At HII, Davis will oversee its cybersecurity program and lead efforts to implement controls and processes for the defense of the shipbuilder's information systems. His responsibilities also involve work to identify network threats and other security risks.

Prior to HII, Davis held roles at BAE Systems' U.S. subsidiary that included director of director of global cybersecurity program integration and director of global cybersecurity operations.

In a contracting capacity at BAE Systems Inc., Davis worked stints as IT security director at the Treasury and IT security manager at the Commerce Department while under contract. He also held roles such as senior lead information security engineer at the Defense Logistics Agency and Department of Homeland Security while under contract.
