Four to help Navy with non-lethal weapon R&D

Four companies have won contracts to help the Navy research weapons that incapacitate but not kill their targets as part of the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program.

The contract also will support other Defense Department non-lethal weapons program.

DOD defines non-lethal weapons as ones designed to incapacitate people or materials. The effects are supposed to be reversible.

The winners of the four contracts and the ceiling values of their individual contracts are:

• American Systems: $47.5 million
• Applied Technologies: $47.5 million
• Applied Research Associates: $54.4 million
• Booz Allen Hamilton: $48.8 million

Work will take place at company locations and the contracts run through February 2022.

Eleven companies bid on the work.
