DSS to install VA patient self-scheduling system

Find opportunities — and win them.

Health IT services outfit Document Storage Systems will install a patient self-scheduling system for Veterans Affairs under the VA's "Faster Care for Veterans Pilot" program.

Juno Beach, Fla.-based health IT company Document Storage Systems has won an 18-month, $19 million contract to install an online patient self-scheduling system for the Veterans Affairs Department to be via the Internet or on mobile devices.

The VA's "Faster Care for Veterans Pilot" program seeks a commercial product that lets veterans schedule, modify and cancel appointments for primary, specialty or mental health care. Other required services include real-time visibility of appointment availability, prompts or reminders to schedule follow-up appointments and ability to schedule appointments at any time.

DSS will apply its ForSite2020 scheduling software suite in an effort to implement a VistA-integrated portal with a module to configure business rules. The software is designed to offer users alerts of potential scheduling issues such as prerequisite services for an individual patient.

DSS' teammates for the contract include Ideal System Solutions, Insignia Technology Services, Minburn Technology Group and Rainmakers Strategic Solutions.
