CSRA has won a $58 million contract to help the Environmental Protection Agency manage high-performance computing systems and laboratory projects focused on scientific environmental modeling and visualization.
The company won the contract as a takeaway win from Leidos, which inherited the contract through its merger with the former Lockheed Martin IT business. CSRA will partner with Albuquerque, N.M.-based research and engineering company ARA for the program’s environmental modeling portion.
The EPA uses HPC platforms to monitor movements of airborne contaminants, screen for potential toxicity and study how a chemical compound is processed through visualizations.
Additionally, CSRA is the incumbent contractor on two HPC contracts NASA is consolidating into a larger contract worth up to $1.1 billion over a maximum 10 years. Engility announced Thursday it plans to enter that competition.
