Alliant contract fuels small biz acquisition
Access to Alliant Small Business contract helps drive one small business to acquire small business that holds a prime spot on the contract.
A small business with Agile development skills has gained a new channel into the federal government through the acquisition of another small business that also happens to hold a spot on the GSA Alliant Small Business contract.
Halvik of McLean, Va., is buying SP Systems of Greenbelt, Md. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2007, Halvik provides services such as application delivery management, application lifecycle services, business information services, cloud, DevOps, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and security and mobile services.
Some of its customers include the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Patent and Trademark Office. It also supports Raytheon’s global network operation center.
SP Systems was founded in 1999 and provides professional services around IT, science support, logistics and education and public outreach. Customers include NASA, NOAA, the Coast Guard, the Army and several other large government contractors.
Both companies are small business and Halvik is an 8(a), woman-owned business.
“Halvik is committed to making the corporate investments to enhance our offerings and provide our customers with innovative technical solutions,” said Robert Tibbs, vice president of operations, for Halvik. “The acquisition of SP Systems and the Alliant Small Business contract helps expand our capabilities and clients to better meet the continued needs of the Federal market space.”
The deal combines SP Systems’ science and scientific engineering experience to Halvik’s software and IT delivery capabilities, Tibbs said.
Access to the Alliant contract gives Halvik another channel to sell its services through. According to Deltek, SP Systems has done about $1.4 million in work via 28 task orders it has won as an Alliant prime.
