IBM protests $543M award to HP
Big Blue cries foul over a contract award for a system to track assets at VA facilities around the country.
IBM Corp. is protesting a $543 million Veterans Affairs Department contract that went to Hewlett-Packard Co.
HP Enterprise Services won the Real-Time Location System contract, which will use radio frequency tags and other technologies to track assets at 152 medical facilities and seven mail-order pharmacies, according to a report by NextGov’s Bob Brewin.
VA expects to use 80,000 tags for each hospital and 3,000 tags for each pharmacy. A decision by the Government Accountability Office is expected by Oct. 3, Brewin wrote.
