CACI hires former Joint Chiefs of Staff policy adviser

Looking to expand its presence within the national security arena, CACI International Inc. has hired Lani Kass as its corporate strategic adviser and senior vice president.

In addition to broadening CACI’s presence in the national security market, she also will lead corporate efforts to further develop and evolve both corporate strategy and key client relationships, according to a Jan. 10 company announcement.

Kass will also lead CACI’s participation in the annual Asymmetric Threats symposia that the company has co-sponsored since 2008.

She previously was senior policy adviser in the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Defense Department, responsible for high-level assessments and analyses for the development and execution of integrated strategies, programs and plans essential to U.S. security. Her expertise and multi-lingual skills played a key part in successful interactions and negotiations with Russia, China and NATO, the announcement said.

Before joining the JCS, Kass was the assistant to the Air Force chief of staff and served as director of the Cyber Task Force. She was the first woman to serve as professor of Military Strategy and Operations at the National War College, National Defense University, where she educated the nation’s senior strategic leaders.

Kass's government career spanned 27 years, according to her LinkedIn page.

She holds Ph.D degrees in Russian Studies from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
