Will conflict-of-interest rules expand?

Are personal conflict-of-interest rules about to expand beyond contractors helping with acquisitions?

The government is floating the idea via a request for information to expand the rules. It is asking two questions in a Nov. 2 RFI:

Are there contracting methods, types, and services that raise heightened concerns for potential personal conflicts of interest?

Should regulatory coverage expand beyond the functions closely associated to the most sensitive work in acquisition?

New conflict-of-interest rules take effect Dec. 2 but these questions are aimed at moving beyond acquisition, according to Federal Computer Week.
