Hoyer to White House: Don't make contractors disclose contributions
House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer disagrees with the Obama administration's plan to make companies include political contribution information with all bid proposals.
Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the House Democratic whip, said May 10 he doesn't support the Obama administration’s push to require companies to include information on political contributions with each contract bid they submit. The White House has released a draft executive order to force disclosure.
“The issue on contracting ought to be on the merits of the contractors’ bid and capabilities,” Hoyer told reporters, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The House Small Business and Oversight and Government Reform committees are holding hearings on the proposed policy May 12.
